"A pulse-laser brawler."
Seliah laughed. "There is no such thing. There is no way in hell that you can put enough heat sinks on a 'Mech and heat manage with pulse lasers in a brawl well enough to avoid getting shut down from heat."
A sly smile graced Kemi's features. "Oh ? What if I made one ?"
Obviously humouring the sibko, Seliah responded, "You do it, and the only blessed thing I will pilot for a week - and you have to be able to run it in a brawl, without getting shutdown from heat! - and the only blasted thing I will pilot for a WEEK is a 4-gun Stormcrow... "
... Oh, now it was official. That was a challenge Kemi could not possibly turn down. Her sponser's obvious 'adoration' for the heavier mechs was well-known throughout the Clan, and Kemi was now looking forward to putting her sponser in a 4-gun for a week and listening to the comms as Seli cussed a blue streak about it.
"Very well. I'll do it."
Seliah looked at her, probably trying to figure out if she was actually serious about it. But Kemi was not quite done. "I have a condition, though. If we take this out on a run, it will have to be on a neutral or cold temperature planet. I will not take it onto York II B."
"Agreed. But it has to be able to brawl. That is my condition." Seliah countered, "You cannot load it up with so many heat sinks that it will not be able to move."
Kemi rolled her eyes. "Oh, it will brawl." She promised.
They walked in silence for a few seconds, then Kemi mentioned conversationally, "You realize it will have one of my names when I am done."
Seliah actually stopped walking and fixed the sibko with a Look. "If you name it 'Squeak' 'Omni-Squeak' or any variation thereof, you will be scrubbing the grease off of the 'Mechbay floor for the next two weeks, Kemeti."
Kemi kept walking, unable to keep the grin off her face.
"Yes... but I can still listen to your comms from the Mechbay."
